The
Rainbow Bridge, is where your pet goes when he dies. Animals of all
kinds wait there for their loving master to come and cross with them. One
day, an elderly horse came, his head hung low and tail dragging. The old
horse approached slowly, very sad. Unlike all of the other animals waiting,
this horse had not been made healthy again. As he walked toward
The
Bridge, he knew he was out of
place, the faster he could cross over, the happier he would be. But, as he
approached, an Angel told him that he would not be able to pass, because only
those animals who were with their people could pass over
The Rainbow Bridge. The elderly horse
turned around and saw a group of other horses just like him, they weren't
playing, they were just standing there, looking at the pathway leading to
The Bridge. And so, he took his place among them, watching the
pathway and waiting. |

| One of the newest arrivals
at The Bridge didn't understand what he had just witnessed and
asked the angel to explain it to him. "You see, that poor animal was a rescue
horse. He was sent to rescue by someone who didn't want him. He died before
he could be adopted, he only had the love of his rescuer to comfort him. Now
because he had no family to share his love with, he has no one to escort him
across the Bridge. |
Suddenly, the skies were
bright and sunny. A person came up the pathway. A
group of horses that were playing nearby, stopped and bowed low as the person
neared. At each bowed head, the person offered a pat on the head or a scratch
behind the ears. The horses that were bowing, are rescue horses, too, but
they had found loving homes because of the rescuers hard work. They will
cross when their new families arrive. |
The person walked by the
sad, old horses, too. As the
person touched them, each one of the horses was washed in a golden light,
they were all young and healthy again. The rescuer had come! When a rescuer
arrives, they are allowed to perform this one, final act of rescue. The
golden horses got into line, the rescuer and the rescued horses, crossed over The Rainbow Bridge. |

| An old Indian legend says,
when a human dies he/she will go to The
Rainbow
Bridge,
to enter into heaven. At the gate by the Bridge is every animal this person has met during his/her
lifetime. The animals decide, which humans may cross the
Bridge...
and which humans are turned away!! |
